0910 BASIC AEROBIC C&S
Bacterial isolation/ID and 16 antibiotic sensitivities* for all known pathogens, plus your choice of gram stain or fungal culture.
Submit culturette from selected source.  If gram stain is your choice also include a bacterial smear. Gram stain same day. C/S 48-72 hrs. Fungal Culture 7 days With all of our cultures if a bacteria smear is not sent, a fungal culture is processed.
0905 AEROBIC C&S PLUS FUNGAL
Aerobic C&S* of one source.  Includes both gram stain and fungal culture.

1 bacterial smear
Gram stain same day
C/S 48-72 hrs.
Fungal 7 days
Fungal cultures are helpful for recovering grown on original culture.
0902 AEROBIC CULTURE ONLY
Bacterial isolation & Identification. Evaluation of bacterial smear if sent with swab.
1 culturette &1 bacterial smear. 24 – 48 hrs If desired: Sensitivities may be requested after C&S results are received.(Additional fee)
0904 FUNGAL CULTURE
Includes fungal culture & identification of any fungal elements grown. Fungal sensitivities are not included.
Swab, RTT with tracheal wash or desired source. 7 days (Minimum) With URI symptoms, a tracheal wash/flush is recommended to test for Aspergillosis
0612 AEROBIC C&S, FUNGAL CULTURE PLUS ANAEROBIC CULTURE 1 culturette1 gel culturette (or other anaerobic media. see #611) Aerobic C/S 48 – 72 hrs

This is the preferred culture. Great for identifying the bacterial population entering & exiting patient
0611 ANAEROBIC CULTURE
Bacterial isolation & identification not of any anaerobic bacteria grown.
Tissues in RTT with 1-2 drops of normal saline OR culturette swab with thioglycolate broth added, charcoal swabs or commercial anaerobic culturette 3-5 days Sensitivities are included. General empirical treatment is recommended.
0998 ENTERIC PANEL-Non Primate
Screening for Salmonella, Shigella & Campylobacter.
1 Culturette from desired source 48 – 72 hours Sensitivities may be added for an additional fee.
996 ENTERIC PANEL-Primate
Screening for Shigella, Campylobacter and Salmonella
Culturette from feces. 3-5 days
997 ENTERIC PANEL PLUS- Primate
Screening for Salmonella, Shigella, Camplyobacter, Yersnia, Vibrio,
Culturette from feces. 3-5 days

 

*Sensitivities are not routinely run on normal flora unless:  1. In specific cases where the doctor requests it.    2. In sources such as  lesions, wounds, organs or other non-normal flora locations.   Any Sensitivities requested on normal flora isolates will incur an additional charge.

    Avian & Exotic most popular and/or most frequently requested tests.

*Anaerobic culturettes may be obtained from your local hospital or purchased from medical supply companies.  Charcoal culturettes may be purchased through Avian & Exotic Labs for anaerobic culturing.
